Mission
Strategy - Oliver Phillips, director
USA/Canada Mission/Evangelism Department
Church of the Nazarene
www.nazarene.org
Purpose:
Through the Mission Strategy office, the Church of the Nazarene
will organize a mission (NSCM) to evangelize and disciple students,
faculty and staff of secular college/university campus communities
in the United States and Canada and create appropriate campus-based
faith communities.
Nazarene churches near these institutions will be encouraged
to initiate a variety of volunteer outreach ministries to serve
the spiritual needs of campus communities as well as to invite
students, faculty and staff to participate in the life of the
church.
The Mission Strategy office will provide resources for denominationally
endorsed campus mission organizations to provide on-site evangelism
ministries. The Mission Strategy office will develop guidelines
for denominational endorsement.
Organization:
· Secular
Campus Mission Strategy Committee
Committee members must be Nazarene members in good standing,
recommended by pastors and/or district superintendents and
appointed by the Mission Strategy director.
The Mission Strategy director will appoint the chairman.
· Secular
Campus Mission Churches
Churches with some organized ministry to one or more College/University
campus communities will be recognized and included in a network
of church-sponsored campus ministries.
· Secular
Campus Mission Organizations
Separately
incorporated campus-based mission organizations must be approved
by district superintendents
and meet the guidelines
in order to receive denominational endorsement which among
other things provides “Ten Percent Approval” for
contributions from local churches.
